Everlast & Economy
The combine that comprises Everlast and Economy is the largest and most experienced manufacturer and builder of concrete water tanks in Australia with over 30 years of continuous experience in supplying the water storage needs of Australians.
There are over 50,000 Everlast and Economy transportable water storage tanks in service, ranging in capacity from 5,000 to 23,000 litres. In addition, Economy has constructed several thousand poured-on-site tanks that range from 100,000 to 4,000,000 litres.
Transportable Concrete Tanks
Everlast Concrete Tanks started supplying concrete water tanks in South-Eastern Australia during the 1960’s. Initially, all tanks were built at the site, even small tanks of around 20,000 litre capacity.
On-site concrete tank construction required a team of at least three persons who were required to spend long periods away from home, travelling from site to site, often working in difficult weather.
With the introduction to Australia of New Zealand cement-mortar tank technology, Everlast was quick to recognise that for small to medium sized tanks factory production provided a cheaper alternative to poured-on-site construction. If a tank could be transported, it could be built more efficiently in a factory environment than out in the field. Delivery and installation of a factory produced tank was simpler than building one at the site. There were other advantages as well. One man can deliver a transportable factory-built tank whereas three men must travel to build an on-site tank. The quick turn around on site was also found to be more convenient for customers.
Everlast built its first production factory in 1971 and began deliveries throughout Victoria and NSW. The Everlast transportable tank soon became hugely popular because of its neat appearance, robust construction and long-term durability.
In the mid-70's, Everlast's Founder sold out to an Australian major and retired. Two years later, the Everlast marketing and management team resigned their jobs to start their own fledging company, Economy Concrete Tanks. The same know-how that fuelled Everlast’s early success now drove Economy’s dramatic growth. Economy quickly formed two divisions, the highly successful transportable tank division and the poured-on-site division that targeted the larger field-constructed tanks from 100,000 litres to 4,000,000 litres capacity.
By 1995, Economy was such a market leader that it’s holding interests bought out Everlast and returned it to the fold. From 1995, Economy and Everlast have operated as affiliates providing transportable tanks and other products throughout Victoria and NSW; each majoring in their traditional geographical areas where their respective names are better known. The re-integration of Economy and Everlast makes the combine the largest and most experienced concrete tank manufacturer in Australia.
Utility Cabins and Wine Cellars
In recent years, Everlast and the transportable tank division of Economy have responded to the emerging market for robust transportable lock-ups [Utility Cabins] and for transportable Wine Cellars.
