FAQs

Tanks

Why should I store rainwater?

Australia is the driest continent on earth but  Australians are also the greatest users of water per capita. Rainwater is one of the most precious resources we have and much of it runs to waste. It is a renewable resource which for the most part is free. But it is becoming increasingly unreliable. Australia is the driest continent on earth. Australians are the greatest users of water per capita.

Changes to our water habits are inevitable. Excess water rates will climb and watering restrictions will increase. So, take every opportunity to store this life-giving liquid and make your contribution towards reducing the demand our homes make on dam storage and aquifer reserves. Catching roof water runoff can also help reduce peak stormwater flows into our drains, local creeks and rivers. Last, but by no means least, by using rainwater you can make savings on your water account.

What sizes do you supply?

Everlast transportable tanks are available in the  following standard sizes, 5, 10, 15, 20, 23, 25 and 35 kilo litres [thousand litres]. Everlast can manufacture ‘special’ tanks to suit customer requirements. Talk to your Everlast Customer Service Officer about availability.

How much does a rainwater tank cost?

With over 21 different sizes and types of transportable water tanks plus a variety of fitting options from which to choose, it is best to speak to an Everlast Customer Service officer who will help you work out your needs and give you a great price.

Where you do you supply?

Everlast Transportable Tanks, Cabins and Cellars are distributed throughout Victoria and the Riverina.

Poured-on-Site or Transportable?

When your water storage requirement is below 100,000 litres at one location, it is usually more cost effective to use several transportable tanks. Above 100,000 litres, the built-on-site tank comes into its own. Visit the Economy Tanks website for information about how to order and purchase the larger built-on-site tanks.

Can I bury the tank?

That depends! The Standard Tank is for aboveground installation. The Deluxe Tank has can be partially backfilled. The Industrial / Commercial Tank can be backfilled or buried.

What size tank do I need?

Estimating the size of a tank requires some experience and calculation. There are many variables involved but you can estimate your tank requirements by visiting our website for guidelines.

Will I need council approval to install?

Increasingly, Councils are encouraging the installation of rainwater tanks. In some circumstances, particularly with commercial and industrial applications, Council or government authorities will require you to make a development application. This is fairly straightforward. The Everlast Customer Service Officer can assist the application process by supplying certified engineering drawings for appending to the Application.

Will I be eligible for a Water Rebate?

Very likely!

Rainwater tanks will soon become a standard part of homes, just like hot water tanks. All new homes in NSW now require a rainwater tank and most new homes in Victoria will install a rainwater tank in order to comply with the 5-Star Rating requirements. To help foster water awareness amongst customers there is an increasing trend for water supply utilities to implement water rebate schemes for householders installing water tanks, especially in capital and regional cities. Rural users installing water tanks for drought mitigation can gain taxation relief from the Australian Taxation Office.

Check your local water authority about your rebate.
